Exhibition of Tokyo Kimekomi Dolls
Kimekomi dolls are a type of wooden doll created by carving grooves into the doll’s body and inserting fabric for the doll’s clothes into these grooves. Known for their refined expressions and lively forms, these dolls have been loved for generations in Japan for their sense of tranquility and warmth. Among the works on display and for sale in this exhibition are dolls featuring Noh theater characters, traditional dolls displayed in May in Japan to pray for the healthy development of children, and other items depicting children and girls with wisteria. We hope you enjoy these sweet creations, as they demonstrate the seasons as felt in Japan.
