56th Exhibition of New Works from the Association of Hakata Doll Makers

Originating with the coronation of a new Emperor of Japan, Hakata  Dolls came into their own as a vital part of expressing traditional culture and court music and dance that invariably accompanied such an auspicious event. The dolls inspired by the theme of "a celebration of plum blossoms," taken from the famous Manyoshu anthology of Japanese poetry that also gave rise to the newly named "Reiwa" era of Japan, are a particular highlight to enjoy here alongside creations from all the doll makers.
