Exhibition of Hand-woven Textiles from the Kimura Hakata-ori Weaving Workshop
Spring this year saw a 20 year revival of the once-lost "Sazanami Chikushi" Hakata-ori weaving textile. These rippled textiles are spun on the loom with a cross warp thread that creates spaces between the fabric and a wave effect, which is what produces the uniquely beautiful curved lines and detailed patterns. Along with obi sashes that exude dexterous skill there is plenty to view and purchase, such as business card cases or wallets that dazzle with new colors.
