Okawa Kumiko Wood JoineryWoodwork/bamboo work
Okawa Kumiko wood joinery is a form of traditional craftwork that combines both beauty and precision, boasting a history of approximately 300 years. This technique of assembling pieces of wood into one of more than 200 different designs within a series of individual triangular frames is said to require artisans with enough intuition and experience to work within just a few micrometres. Certain compositions are constructed using up to tens of thousands of individual parts. While appearing fragile at first glance, each piece is fitted together with exact precision and the finished article is as strong as a single board of wood.
