The techniques for creating bamboo ware were brought to the Yame region approximately 300 years ago. The area is blessed with excellent quality bamboo, which helped the rise of Yame bamboo ware as a side business for low-ranking samurai. Noted in particular for baskets with a fine green finish, even though no dyes or adhesives are used in the creation of these superb bamboo crafts, they are highly durable and can be used for 50 or 60 years.
